So what do you get with a lepord, a centurion, and many others when you combined them with Jesus a lot of miracles. So ya this blog is mainly about Matthew chapter 8. I think everyone sees this chapter and says " oh look at the miracles" and " Jesus sure did help out a lot". It first showed how powerful Jesus was with his obvious miracles but there was something else that got to me the other day. It first was with the man with leprosy. So Jesus is now coming down from the mountain side and this man with leprosy comes and kneels before Jesus and says " Lord if you're willing, you can make me clean". But here is the kicker. Jesus now reaches out his hand and touches the unclean man and says" I am willing, Be clean". WOW. Let's just start with this. So a man with leprosy is classified as ceremonially unclean. So you wouldn't touch this man in fear of getting this disease yourself and also because of all the laws of dealing with a man with leprosy. I looked in Leviticus 13 about skin diseases and how to deal with it. Needless to say it was insane to read all the procedures and regulations to deal with skin diseases. So then Jesus reaches out and touches the man. He breaks the norm, he breaks the law, he breaks this wall of separation. And then he says I am willing to the man. So really he is willing to break the law to touch this man to make connection. I will go back to this in a second but I want to put some more examples on here as well. So after the man with leprosy, a centurion asks Jesus for help because his servant is paralyzed. And Jesus says "I will go and heal him". Then a couple of verses later, he is in Peter's house and saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. Jesus touches her hand and the fever left her. In just these three examples what are the connections besides healing? There is an action always from Jesus. He takes the first initiative to reach out to that man and say that he is willing. He is willing. Jesus was all set and ready to go to the centurions house. Jesus just plainly saw that Peter's in-law was sick and touched her hand. Jesus went in when he helped out these people. When we want to help people, we usually do it at a distance, like donations, food collections, etc. I am not saying that they are bad at all but they lack that connection. I could give anybody on the street in J-bay and say that I have done a good thing today and walk on by and not even see the guy's face that I give the bread to. Jesus was willing to go to the same level as the man with leprosy and heal him. When are we going to be willing to do the same for others?
